Acquisition
North Industrial completes acquisition of Ellesmere Precision
North Holdings Group today confirmed that North Industrial has completed the acquisition of Ellesmere Precision Components, a Staffordshire manufacturer of machined components for the energy and water sectors. The business employs 96 people at a single site near Leek and has been family-owned since 1974.
Ellesmere will continue to trade under its own name and will report to the North Industrial operating board. The existing management team, led by managing director Ruth Ellesmere, remains in place. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
“Ellesmere is exactly the kind of business the group was built for,” said Daniel Okonkwo, Chief Executive. “It makes something essential, it has customers who have stayed for decades, and it has a management team that wants to keep going. Our job is to give them the capital and the time to do it.”
Operations
Meridian Commodities opens Rotterdam operations desk
Meridian Commodities has opened a physical operations desk in Rotterdam to support its metals and agricultural input business across the Amsterdam–Rotterdam–Antwerp region. The desk will manage warehouse relationships, scheduling and documentary flow, working closely with the existing London trading team.
The office opens with eleven staff, six of whom have moved from London. Tomas Lindqvist, Managing Director of Meridian Commodities, said the move reflected the growing share of the desk's volumes that clear through Dutch ports.
“Rotterdam is where a large part of our physical business already happens,” he said. “Having people on the ground makes us quicker and, more importantly, makes us harder to surprise.”
